about Me
I am both a Lighting Designer and a Production Electrician for the entertainment sector. I have worked on Theatrical and Musical Performances, Corporate and Live Events, within Stadiums and I am looking forward to exploring my role within many other forms of the entertainment industry. I love my job, it’s a big part of my life; not only is it where I work but it’s also what I prefer as entertainment, I thoroughly enjoy going to theatres and watching plays and musicals. I still look in awe at some of the tricks used within performances. It can be face paced, hard work and very stressful at times, but you are surrounded by incredible people who make up your team. They help you when things get tough, and you know you can rely on them to get the show up on time. The people you work with can become a big part of your life very quickly, they are not only who you work alongside, but they are also who you go on breaks with, they are who you end up in the pub with at the end of the events. Your team can quickly become more then a contact, they can become great friends, and friends you know you can depend on.
The first time I ever done any work within the lighting department was when I was only ten years old. My head mistress came to me and asked if I would be interested in operating the lighting for our school’s nativity. I was only in year 5 so the grid was nowhere as big as what I work with now, and the technology is a lot more complicated, but it keeps me on my toes, keeps me thinking, and always learning and adapting to all changes and problems that come my way.
Before I was old enough to go to college, I did everything I could to stay within the side of the industry, I attended amateur youth groups as a performer and slowly changed to more and more technical work, learning from the others who also were interested within that area. Once I was old enough to attend college, I immediately registered for a production arts course and have been taking more specialist courses to further develop my knowledge and skills so I can be a more effective person within my field.
I can honestly say, that I am happy with my decisions I have made through my life, as they have enabled me to perform really well within this incredible industry. It has allowed me to meet some amazing people and gain lots of valuable experiences. Every day comes with a new challenge to overcome, a new lesson to learn, a new person to meet. Not a single day is the same, and they are always enjoyable. I am looking forward to my future, where I am going to work, who I am going to find and further developing.
