Coyote Ugly Swansea

Apr 2021

Coyote Ugly Swansea wanted some lanterns moved to revive the lighting in the bar ready to reopen after the third UK lockdown. After an inspection, many of the lanterns were not working and needed to be serviced to get them back into a healthily working state. A complete redesign of the lighting grid was used to add new elements to the bar and highlight some statement pieces dotted around the bar.

Over the next couple of weeks nearly all lanterns were removed from the grid, cleaned, serviced and re-rigged in new positions, the whole bar was also reprogrammed making a simpler interface for the staff to use as well as new looks for when the Coyote’s finally get to dance on the bar again.

Rhys was delighted to be offered work experience with Will Evans, who was the Associate Lighting Designer on the UK National Tour of 'An Inspector Calls'. Rhys said that “this experience was extremely valuable as it was a clear demonstration on how important communication is within the industry. Face to Face

14th May 2019

Rose Bruford College held a networking event for their graduates of 2019. Rhys was one of the Production Electrician's for the event. This posed many challenges as the events date was moved with short notice but also the style was changed. This meant that all roles where having to learn a completely new format for this event with no prior knowledge.

This was a useful experience for Rhys as it provided him with the ability to display quick problem solving techniques as well as the ability to perform quickly and efficiently under pressure.

The Children's Hour

15th Apr 2019 - 17th Apr 2019

The Children’s Hour by Lillian Hellman, was Rose Bruford College’s site-specific production performed by the students of the American Theatre Arts Course. The production took place in Sidcup Manor House. This production had many challenges as there were 3 different casts, performing different versions of the same show, in the same house at the same time. This logistical nightmare made lighting difficult when added to the fact the building is a commercial building with no theatrical infrastructure and minimal power.

Rhys enjoyed the experience and the cast and crew were a pleasure to work with.
